I’m a licensed clinical psychologist with more than a decade of experience conducting evidence-based psychological intervention and assessment with youth of all ages, including pre-school-aged and older children, adolescents, and young adults. I'm extensively trained and experienced in working with a range of issues, including learning difficulties, inattention and/or hyperactivity, and problems with mood or behavior regulation (e.g., depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorders). Assessing and treating youth who are struggling with stress, negative life events, or traumatic experiences remains an area of specialty for me. I'm continually inspired by the youth and families I serve.

My approach to assessment is collaborative, comprehensive, and culturally informed. Through assessment, I aim to clarify challenges and highlight areas of relative strength and resilience that can be leveraged as supports. My assessments offer individualized recommendations for home and school. As an Associate Professor of psychology and a clinical supervisor of master’s-level trainees, I stay up to date with the latest advancements in the field of psychology and psychological assessment.

More About My Background

My previous career in public health taught me that sometimes service providers overlook or misunderstand the mental health needs of children and adolescents. Developing effective, evidence-based interventions for youth and families experiencing high levels of stress was my focus during my graduate studies and pre-doctoral Prevention Science Fellowship at ASU. I also trained extensively with licensed psychologists and neuropsychologists with expertise in learning and mood disorders. During my residency and postdoctoral fellowship at UIC and UCSF, I worked directly with youth, while collaborating with school staff and other providers to ensure youth had their school needs met. I’ve been a professor at SFSU since 2015, where I direct the Stress, Trauma, & Resilience lab and teach both graduate and undergraduate students.

Originally from New England, I made my home in the SF Bay Area in 2013. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with friends, reading comics, hiking, or playing and snuggling with my dog Moxie, a Welsh Corgi.
